Starring your Super Ego

In this short series, Grace Madeleine Slater fictionalises her most shameful moments, using lighting techniques to support the implied narrative within each tableau.

‘Starring your Super Ego’ plays on Freud’s theory of the part of our conscience that makes us aware of what is right and what is wrong. The betrayal of your ‘Super Ego’ when performing a shameful act is represented through using herself in the cinematic shots, only showing small parts at a time and never her face. This hints towards part of you not being present when performing something shameful.
